We all knew that Pathfinder 2.0 was on the horizon, but now it has an official release date. Paizo announced Wednesday that Pathfinder’s next iteration will be available August 1 with a slew of content ready on Day One, according to their news release.
If you’ve ever been on the fence about whether or not to give Pathfinder a try, this seems to be the perfect opportunity. Paizo promises that the revised rules, which that say are based on feedback from more than 125,000 gamers, will be “streamlined” and will allow for “deep character customization” with the Feats and Skills systems.
The streamlined nature of 5e Dungeons & Dragons has created a lower entry barrier for players (and potential players) to learn the system and it’s possible Paizo’s revisions to Pathfinder are a response to that. But Pathfinder, originally released in 2009 after more than a year of playtesting, is about 10 years old so there are no doubt financial incentives to refreshing the brand, as well.
Official Pathfinder 2.0 content available August 1 will be:
- Pathfinder Core Rulebook ($59.99 hardcover)
- Pathfinder Bestiary ($49.99 hardcover)
- Pathfinder Lost Omens World Guide ($36.99 hardcover)
- Pathfinder Adventure Path: Hellknight Hill, Age of Ashes 1 of 6 ($24.99 softcover)
- Pathfinder Adventure: The Fall of Plaguestone ($22.99 softcover)
- Pathfinder Flip-Mat: The Fall of Plaguestone ($14.99)
- Pathfinder: Character Sheet Pack ($14.99)
- Pathfinder: GM Screen ($19.99 portrait and widescreen versions)
- Pathfinder: Combat Pad ($24.99)
- Pathfinder: Condition Card Deck ($22.99)
So, for just less than $300, you can be fully decked out in second-edition Pathfinder swag.
