Virtual
DRAGON CON 2020

Written by on September 3, 2020

SEPTEMBER 3-7, 2020

After many years of attending Dragon Con, being able to participate as panelists on the Digital Media Track is tremendously exciting.  Alain has been going to Dragon Con for over a decade – he considers it such a formative point of reference for his growth as a person, and as a nerd pursuing inclusive community, so he is all-around floored and honored to be on a D*C panel as an extension of the amazing Goblins and Growlers community! Alain will be talking all about the work that is put into the production of Quid Pro Roll.

Josh is particularly excited to talk about the Goblin Book Club and Dungeons & Doodles, plus his experience with podcasting – not just through Quid Pro Roll, but with other projects that are still in the formative stage. Gabe will be talking all things sound, audio, and podcasting!

You can find all the details of this year’s virtual Dragon Con on the official Dragon Con website, and the event itself will be streaming at https://dragoncon.tv/virtual.

Panelists: Kate Shaw, Sean McKay (Headgamer), Kurt Boutin, Ellie Collins, CJ Boat, Josh Maltby
There’s room for you even in the increasingly crowded podcast world, but where do you fit? A panel that will help both prospective and established podcasters narrow their focus in order to stand out and find listeners, with tips on how to stay motivated.

Saturday, September 5

From Inception to Posting, Let’s Get the Podcast Out There (8:00 PM ET)
Panelists: Sean Weiland, Mike Faber, Ellie Collins, Jenna Garrett, Gabriel Perez (Quid Pro Roll)
A workshop for podcast production. This will condense the process down so people new to podcasts can get a little experience with inception, setup, recording, editing, and publishing. Part of the battle with making a podcast is just not knowing the basic steps for getting your content out there. This workshop will give the audience some hands on experience with producing a podcast and demystify some of the process.

Audio Editing and Sound Design (10:00 PM ET)
Panelists: Scott Moore, Hugh Morrison, Steve Riekeberg, Hammon Chamberlain, Gabriel Perez (Quid Pro Roll)
So you have a decent grasp on how to edit your audio and get a rough show out onto the web. But you know you could soooo much more! Join longtime editors and producers as they give you tips and tricks on how to set up your digital work station (editing software), plugins, and answer your questions on how to get the best sound for your show.

Sunday, September 6

Polyhedron Presents: Rolling Up an Actual Play! (5:00 PM ET)
Panelists: Matthew Malis, Joe Ard, Anthony Reed, Alain Monyette
Broadcasting your Tabletop Roleplaying game is an entertaining way of showcasing your talent and the talent of your friends. However, there is a lot that goes into producing such a show. Beyond most streamers, who just need a mic, a webcam, and some streaming software, Actual Plays take a good deal of equipment and forethought. This is where we come in. Various producers, hosts, and actors from various roleplaying actual plays and podcasts will go over their experiences and answer your questions of how to get into such a new sector of online entertainment.
