😍 Introducing the QPR Wiki Builders! 😍

Thank you to our Quid Pro Roll Wiki builders and Tracy Little for being our first community guest bloggers!

The entire QPR podcast is such a dream come true for us and we’re always excited to see what gets fans talking, theorizing, and ‘shipping. The QPR Wiki Builders have been so amazing, all of them are so motivated and attentive to detail. This is the sort of accessibility work that we know means a ton to the community, but that we simply don’t have the bandwidth to do ourselves. Thankfully, we have such wonderful volunteers that are willing to help share the work. We can’t possibly thank them enough!

💚 The QPR Team

It’s really wonderful when you fall in with a welcoming group of folks that are a true comfort to be around. That hasn’t completely changed with the pandemic, we’re just connecting remotely now via the Goblins and Growlers Discord.

A group of volunteers from the Goblins and Growlers Discord are working to make creator content more accessible. Quid Pro Roll, the collaborative podcast by Alpha Comics and Games and Goblins and Growlers, is much beloved and enjoyed by many of our community members. It’s been a beacon of happiness once a week. We are making efforts to extend that welcome feeling to others, including those who would benefit from the transcriptions of the episodes and the updates to the Quid Pro Roll fan wiki page. Expanding the fan wiki page will also help people who want to take a deeper dive into the world of Vyrion.

Contributing to this wiki expansion are a handful of volunteers making efforts during their free time to transcribe episodes, coordinate with others on tasks, and make progress updates. There are other volunteers who will be editing and monitoring the wiki pages to make sure they’re up to standard, in addition to providing input on individual articles, pictures, and other features.

One volunteer ran the podcast audio through an automatic transcription service to make the process quicker. There’s a lot of editing to do before we post them alongside the episode wiki entries, but it’s easier to do so with the bulk of the dialogue already laid out. It is truly a lot of work, but it doesn’t feel that way because as volunteers we all share a part in the tasks.

We’re also hoping that as the wiki is filled out more that it will lead to an expansion of the thriving Quid Pro Roll community. We’re hoping to be able to include even more pictures of the cast, as well as fan contributions of art and possibly fan fiction. We all have hopes for pairings of certain characters and it’s fun to have them come alive in our imagination, further inspiring folks to write about them, or to flesh out encounters that may have had only short scenes. For instance, Vyrion has a friendly vampire vegan vegetable stand vendor and I’d love to imagine their backstory of how they ethically survive while also providing a kind service to humans that doesn’t appear to personally benefit them beyond the transaction.

One volunteer writes, “The audio transcriptions will be the most difficult, but also the most satisfying, task to help those with auditory difficulties. The puns and banter in this show are eye-rolling and fantastic, and I wouldn’t want anyone to miss out on those!”

That volunteer also mirrors the community’s aspirations for the wiki as a complement to the Quid Pro Roll Discord channels as a site “to encourage a fun place to discuss fan theories and to note potentially important plot devices and subtle hints so other fans can go, ‘Oooooh, that’s what happened in the past that caused this person to express animosity toward a certain character.’ I’m all about the fan theories, and I love reading them on other wikis.”

Many hands make light work and it’s all a labor of love for the community that Goblins and Growlers fosters.
